CPP is excited to announce that Libby Smallbone will be playing LeAnne Nelson in our newest project to be shot this summer. She will be new to our audiences but not new to performing. From an early age, Libby has been surrounded by the entertainment world. When she was four years old, she started touring with her family, as her sister Rebecca St. James was traveling all over America and around the world. She learned a lot about music and performance by just being around it.
When she wasn’t traveling with her family, she studied theatre arts and performed in local plays. At a young age her acting coach recognized her natural acting ability.
Libby has always immersed herself in creativity, music and acting. At 16, she started songwriting as well as performing and recording her music. She sang backup vocals with her sister and was featured on a tour with her brothers, for King and Country.
Libby has gone on to act in films and on stage. She brings a strong gift set to the performance world as she has a unique singing voice as well as an honest and warm acting style.
“Libby’s audition was sent to us in a group of submissions from her talent agency,” explains Co-Director David Alford, “I knew of her family, but I didn’t connect the name Smallbone to any of them. As an actress she simply had everything we needed for the character of LeAnne Nelson, a young veterinary school graduate who returns home to her small county to care for the community who supported her growing up. The character is farm-tough, but warm, vulnerable and compassionate. Audiences should engage with her and invest in her right-away and Libby brought all of those qualities to her audition. Despite reviewing over fifty other auditions videos for this role, we knew she was the right person for the job. We didn’t learn of her famous siblings until after we wanted to cast her. Clearly artistry runs through the entire family.”
Libby will appear in her family’s biopic, “Unsung Hero” in theatres later this year.
